KC's Tappin' Out Cancer for Jake was a fundraiser for Mark Staniszewski's son, Jake.

Mark "Stan" Staniszewski is a 4th degree Judo black belt, and a BJJ black belt under Joe Moreira.  He was the first American to win the Pan Ams in Judo and BJJ and was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2010.

A month ago, Stan’s youngest son, Jake, was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer.  Jake was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma at only 15 months old.  Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the connective tissue, skeletal muscle or bone.

The news shocked and devastated the Staniszewski family, now those in the Judo and BJJ community have set into action to support a fellow grappler in his time of need.

Donations will be collected that evening, and we ask that you donate whatever you can as the "mat fee" 100% of donations will go to the Staniszewski family.  If you cannot stay, are injured, etc. please still come by and donate whatever you can for the cause.  If you cannot make it, please remember little Jake in your thoughts and prayers.

At the end of the event, we will make a donation via the link below on behalf of all the KC grappling clubs as KC's Tappin' Out Cancer for Jake.
