We had 3 boys representing Northland Judo & BJJ and we brought home some hardware!
5- Gold & 6 Silver medals...Gold translates to NAGA Belts and/or Swords...Way to go Jack, Paul & Ayden.  We will be learning from our losses this week and hitting NAGA, Oklahoma next week.

Friday night before weigh-ins we were invited to train in St. Louis at  Finney's MMA.  Many BJJ National placers were in attendance including "Battlin Medeline", Seth Moneymaker, Victor Ceja, and their teammates.  Thank you coach Ezra Lenon, Tony Biondo & Bos who put on a great practice!

BJJ: Belt Ranking System

Congrats to all the youth who earned BJJ white belt stripes today from Coach Ethan Day.

NLD uses the IBJJF Ranking system for BJJ belt promotions.  In addition to the color belt a student may also earn stripes before moving on to the next belt color.

Age Requirements for Youth (3-15 years):

• White (Any Age)
• Grey/White, Grey, Grey/Black (4-16 years)
• Yellow/White, Yellow, Yellow/Black (7-16 years)
• Orange/White, Orange, Orange/Black (10-16 years)
• Green/White, Green, Green/Black (13-16 years)
• Blue    (16+ years)
• Purple (16+ years)
• Brown (18+ years)

Youth students will earn 3-stripes prior to being promoted to the next belt color and should meet the following criteria:

* Compete in at least ( 1 ) BJJ tournaments per quarter ( or ) 4 per year

* Attend at least ( 1 ) BJJ clinic per quarter ( or ) 4 per year

* Attend a minimum of ( 9 ) BJJ classes per quarter

* Demonstrate moves taught in class

A student's attitude during class and at tournaments will be taken into consideration and, as always, Coaches have discretion as to if a student may skip stripe(s) due to performance.

BJJ: Ethan Day Clinic

We are announcing our first BJJ clinic of the 2014 year...

The "Ethan Day Clinic" will be at IMPACT ELITE MMA GYM on Sunday, Jan 12th from 2:00 - 5:00 pm...All clubs are welcome!

If you are interested at all in BJJ and BJJ rank please make every effort to attend. It's critical for our development in BJJ and Judo newaza.


   * Kids are $10.00 (plus regular $5.00 for gym drop in fee) 

   * Adults are $25.00 (plus regular $5.00 for gym drop in fee)

For our youth competitive team (and any adult Judo players) please wear your BJJ equivalent belt (which will probably be white).

The first hour will be Judo techniques for BJJ taught by Niko Dax...The next 2 hours Coach Ethan Day will be providing his ground expertise.

WRESTLING: Parent Information 2013 - 2014

Practices:
Wrestling season begins November 11, 2013 

Practices this year will be on Monday & Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at the PAC in Parkville.

Additional mat time on Thursdays will be added later in the year.

Club Fees:

The fee for the season is $250 (includes singlet*, MO USA wrestling card & club warm up attire).

Tournaments are still to be paid separately and range from $10 - $20 each.

*Singlet must be returned at the end of the season...Deposit is required and will be returned upon return of singlet.

Parent Meeting:
There will be a Parent Meeting Monday, November 25, 2013 at 6:15 pm

This is a great orientation for families new to wrestling, new to NLD, and for those that are returning.

Practice will carry on as normal for wrestlers while Coach Barth shares information about the season and club with the families. 

Paperwork:
Enrollment packets & Fees are due...But, it is not too late for someone new to join the club...Spread the word! 

If you are new to NLD and/or wrestling, we will also need 2 copies of the wrestler’s birth certificate to accompany their enrollment.

Shoe & Headgear Exchange:

Please be sure to bring your out-grown wrestling shoes and head gear to practice for the box in the office. Our trade-in program is helpful to all our families!
